2019 Conference Aim
The purpose of this satellite meeting of the International Ataxia Research Conference (IARC) is to advance international research in Machado-Joseph Disease (MJD), also known as Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 3 (SCA3), and foster international collaborations to assist the scientific discovery of treatments and innovations in care for people living with MJD, their families and communities. We believe through strengthening partnerships we can achieve a future free from MJD.
Our mission is to elevate the voiced research interests of people living with MJD globally and to raise awareness about the Australian Aboriginal experience of MJD. This satellite meeting follows the 2015 International MJD Research Conference, hosted by the MJD Foundation (Australia) which took place in Cairns, Australia. We hope to generate broader interest among international researchers to travel to Australia to collaborate and attend a future conference. We look forward to seeing you in Washington, D.C., USA in November!
